Step 1: Download and Install
- Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad
- Search for "Brightli"
- Tap "Get" to download and install the app
- Open Brightli from your home screen
💡 Pro Tip: Make sure you have iOS 14.0 or later for the best experience.
Step 2: Set Up Your Profile
When you first open Brightli, you'll go through a quick onboarding process:
- Enter Your Name: Personalize your experience by adding your first name
- Choose Your Goals: Select what you'd like to focus on (habits, productivity, wellness, etc.)
- Set Preferences: Choose your notification preferences and preferred activity categories
- Pick a Theme: Select a color theme that resonates with you
Step 3: Understand Activity Categories
Brightli organizes your activities into four main categories to help you maintain balance:
Strong
Physical activities like exercise, sports, and movement. Track your workouts, runs, yoga sessions, and any physical wellness activities.
Smart
Mental wellness and learning activities. This includes reading, meditation, studying, courses, and cognitive development.
Happy
Social connections and joyful experiences. Time with friends, hobbies, creative pursuits, and activities that bring you joy.
Organized
Productivity and task management. Work projects, household chores, errands, and organizational tasks.
Step 4: Schedule Your First Activity
Ready to close your first loop? Here's how to create a tracked activity:
- Tap the + button at the bottom of your screen
- Enter a title for your activity (e.g., "Morning Run," "Team Meeting")
- Select a category (Strong, Smart, Happy, or Organized)
- Set the date and time
- Add the expected duration
- Toggle "Activity Tracking" ON to enable reflection questions
- Optionally add notes
- Tap "Save"
🎯 Important: Make sure to enable "Activity Tracking" if you want to receive reflection prompts and gain insights from this activity!
Step 5: Complete Your Activity
When it's time for your activity:
- You'll receive a notification reminder (if enabled)
- Open Brightli and find your activity on the dashboard
- Tap the three dots menu on the activity
- Select "Complete" when you're done
Step 6: Answer Reflection Questions
This is where the magic happens! After completing a tracked activity, you'll receive personalized reflection questions:
What to Expect:
- Rate Your Experience: How did you feel during and after the activity?
- Energy Levels: Did this activity boost or drain your energy?
- Mood Impact: How did this affect your overall mood?
- Context Questions: What factors contributed to your experience?
How to Complete Reflections:
- Go to the Reflections tab in your navigation
- You'll see pending reflections for completed activities
- Tap "Reflect" on a pending reflection
- Answer the questions honestly—there are no wrong answers!
- Add any freeform notes if you'd like
- Tap "Complete Reflection"
💭 Reflection Tip: Be honest with yourself. The more authentic your responses, the more accurate and helpful your insights will be. Don't overthink it—your first instinct is usually right!
Step 7: Discover Your Insights
After consistently tracking activities and completing reflections for about a week, you'll start seeing personalized insights:
Types of Insights:
- Best Times: When you perform best for different types of activities
- Mood Boosters: Which activities consistently improve your mood
- Energy Patterns: What activities energize or drain you
- Success Factors: Environmental and contextual factors that lead to better outcomes
- Recommendations: Personalized suggestions based on your patterns
Accessing Insights:
- Tap the Insights card on your dashboard
- View weekly, monthly, or custom time range insights
- Explore different categories to see category-specific patterns
- Use these insights to adapt and optimize your routine
Step 8: Build Your Habit
To get the most out of Brightli, consistency is key:
- Track Regularly: Try to track at least one activity per day
- Complete Reflections: Don't skip reflection prompts—they're the key to insights
- Review Insights: Check your insights weekly to identify trends
- Adapt: Use what you learn to make informed changes to your routine
- Experiment: Try activities at different times or in different contexts
Tips for Success
Start Small
Begin by tracking just 1-2 activities per day. As you build the habit, you can expand to more activities.
Be Specific
Instead of "Exercise," try "30-min Morning Run" or "Yoga Session." Specific titles help you track patterns better.
Use Notes
Add context in the notes field: weather, who you were with, your starting mood. This helps identify factors that impact your experience.
Set Reminders
Enable notifications so you don't forget to complete activities and reflections.
Review Weekly
Spend 5 minutes each week reviewing your insights. Look for patterns and opportunities to optimize.
